Lawler, Westrum win WRMYC Saturday Series Races June 26th, 2021 at SPIRE
Western Reserve Model Yacht Club sailed its Saturday race program on June 26th at SPIRE Institute. The weather was Hot and humid with a temperature at race time in the mid 80’s. rain held off and winds we’re sustained at 10-14mph out of the S/SE.
Racing Director Brad Ferrell ran a flawless set of races, varying the courses, based on the good wind. Racing was close with crowded Mark rounding’s and hard-fought upwind legs. Most heats were 2 laps for Gold Fleet and 1 lap for Silver.
At the end of the 9-Heat program, in the Gold Fleet, Rick Lawler prevailed, gaining on to his series leader held by Dave Steiger which placed 2nd. In Silver, with 4 skippers competing, Scott Westrum won by 2 points over Dan Jarold which was breaking in his new vessel #90 “DAS BOOT”..
