Tuesday Evening Series on 8/24/2021

Western Reserve Model Yacht Club Tuesday August 24, 2021 - at SPIRE: Steger, Kalman win

Hot. Not so much based on the temperature, but with the humidity and the upper 80’s temperature, added to the low to near zero wind, it sure FELT hot.

Arriving in mid-afternoon, the sky was partly cloudy, and the wind was light and never much above 5 MPH from the North, clocking around toward the NE.

In the Gold Fleet competition David Steger again was first, winning 5 of the 7 Heats. Bob Valentine placed second- with the same RACING points as Mike Wyatt, who placed third. But, Bob’s worst, and therefore discarded, finish was a 6 in Heat 1- where he missed the race entirely. Wyatt’s worst score was 5th in Heat 7 – so on the strength of a 6 vs. 5 discard, Valentine prevailed for the evening.

In Silver Fleet, Bob Kalman won the evening, retaining his considerable lead in the 2021 Tuesday Series Silver Fleet standings.

After number 17 of the scheduled 26 Tuesday Race dates, David Steger is still leading the Gold Fleet year-long Tuesday evening Series by a margin of 5 points, over Mike Wyatt in second place. After next week a third discard comes in, and will shake up the Standings before the final run to the end of October Tuesday Series season close.
