Saturday Series Soling on 8/28/2021

Western Reserve Model Yacht Club Saturday August 28, 2021 - at SPIRE: Rieger, Sieloff, win

Saturday, August 28 was forecast, and delivered, a HOT day. Mostly humid, so even though the thermometers read 86- 90 F. (depending on your thermometer), the high humidity made it feel much more uncomfortable than the indicated temperature. RD Larry Lamphier had a hard time setting courses using the Marks as set- because the wind was SE, and light (4 MPH) light and variable. A good Start was paramount.

Gold Fleet: Doug Rieger seemed to get most of those good Starts, and finished the day with 19 racing points (of 12 Heats sailed), and after discarding a 5th Place, had a net 12 points for First Place. In second was Fall Series leader Rick Lawler, 17 net points, and third was Mike Wyatt with 25 points. David Steger tied for 3rd with a net 25 points, but after the tiebreaker (most First Place Heats between them) Wyatt got the place. In Silver Fleet, 2021 series leader Ron Sieloff was First with a net ten points, followed by Bob Kalman at 14, and Scott Westrum at 21 for the day.

Soling 1 Meter Fall Series standings: after 2 of the scheduled 7 Fall Series Soling 1 Meter race dates, and adding in the points from the Spring Series, it is (Gold Fleet) Rick Lawler in First with 13, David Steger in Second at 22, Doug Rieger a close third (23 points). 2021 Silver Fleet has Ron Sieloff (5 points) in First, then Bob Kalman (12), followed by Scott Westrum in Third with 16.
