The DragonFlite 95 is a Restricted One Design boat that is meant to compete within a strict set of rules to ensure a true test of a skipper's ability to tune their boat and race it well. Additionally, this 950mm boat is of high quality for a modest price. The DF95 is sold ready to race which includes transmitter and receiver, just add AA batteries. For those already in the hobby, a boat without transmitter and receiver can be purchased. The DF95 comes with a carbon fiber keel, Mylar sails, and a one piece carbon mast, all cutting edge components. It can be on the water in a few hours and assembled by a person with no experience building boats.

Class RulesThe boat has fleets at nearly 150 clubs around the country. The clubs range from well-established AMYA clubs, full sized boat yacht clubs, school sailing teams to community association clubs. Within these clubs the boat is sailed from beginners to national champion skippers from many other classes. An added benefit of the boat is the well-supplied and dedicated national distributor that provides excellent access to boats, parts and accessories allowed by the class rules. IOM - One Design Sanctioned in 1998. The International One Metre is the fastest growing class in the world. The rules in this class are identical to those used throughout the globe. The class has a one-design rig and weight minimums, but the hull design is very much developmental. One meter long, with a sail area as large as a Marblehead. 39.37" long (One meter)
The versatile International One Metre (IOM) is one of the most popular class in the radio sailing world, and many USA sailors enjoy regular travel for competition. Others prefer local sailing, and local fleets are the class backbone. USA's annual Nationals began in 1998. The class formed in the late 1980s, specifying three (3) one-design rigs with the hull/foils controlled by box rule. This format encourages evolution and created our highly refined fleet of today, where creative skippers continue to test new ideas. We race in the lightest breeze up to very strong winds and waves, where we need our smallest rig up to 35-40 knots. The hull weight limit allows amateur designers/builders to carefully create competitive IOMs and test their mettle against the best commercially available. Besides our plethora of purchase options, we have a recent global boom in home-built woody hulls now too. While the most skilled skippers usually win the regatta, no single design dominates our World Championships on even years.

Open - Developmental This is where boats that don't fit in other classes register and track their growth on the way to full-fledged class status. It is also where innovation and experimentation are encouraged and permitted.
Any type of R/C sailing water craft other than those that meet existing active recognized class specifications are eligible to be registered in the Open Class. This includes "one off" scratch designed and scratch built boats, "COTS" (commercial off-the-shelf) boats that have not yet had a class formed for them, and previous boat classes that have been "de-sanctioned" because they fell below the 20 member minimum.
If you have a kit built or RTS (ready to sail) that is not yet a member of a recognized AMYA class, then the Open Class welcomes you! Examples of these boats are the AquaCraft VELA, the Fortune 612 by Kyosho and the Stockmaritime 3X1.
The Open Class can be considered the ultimate "Developmental Class" because there are no restrictions on design, creativity, or innovation as long as it is a sail powered water craft. The unrestricted number of hulls is what makes the Open Class stand out from the rest of the AMYA classes. Catamarans, Trimarans and Foilers are all welcomed in the Open Class! | |||||||||
T-37 - One Design The T-37 is a 37 inch RC sailboat with 635.5 square inches of sail area. The hull is built of 1/8 inch mahogany plywood assembled with epoxy for a light, strong composite boat. Most T37s are built from the kit by the owners although the T37 is also available ready to sail.

Class RulesThere are over 3400 T37's sailing. Building the boat doesn't require any special tools or previous experience. The T37 is fairly unique amongst today's RC classes in being a wooden hull. The precut plywood hull sides, bottom and deck are put together with West System tm epoxy making a very strong but very light hull that requires no internal framing or bulkheads. The total weight of the fully rigged T37 hull with batteries and sails is 2-3/4 lbs. The ballast casting is 2-1/8 lbs for a total sailing weight of 5 lbs. The T37 makes an excellent starter boat for clubs. The building kit includes all of the radio control gear, sails, West System tm epoxy, and everything necessary for building and sailing except paint, varnish and batteries. The boat is very quick and maneuverable so it is a fun boat to race for either new or experienced skippers. The class rules allow some innovations, but do not allow any changes that involve significant additional expense or changes that would make a standard boat unable to compete successfully. The T37 is a modern high performance design with a deep, fairly fine fin keel and balanced spade rudder, but the boat has the traditional elegance of a fine wooden yacht. Each boat is finished off distinctively reflecting the owner's individual taste and personality with custom paint jobs. The National Championships have been held in Seattle for the past 16 years. The T37 is also a beautiful boat to take Windling. Windling is defined as the fine art of relaxing by a lake and enjoying watching your boat sail off across the lake and then return. The Victoria One Design is a simple, affordable, sailboat manufactured by the Thunder Tiger Model Company, and distributed world wide. The kit's low cost (about $150 for the kit, $250 to perhaps $400 ready to race), ease of assembly, and good sailing characteristics make it a great first yacht, while remaining fun to sail and race for old hands as well. It is easy to transport, fully rigged, in the smallest of cars. The emphasis of the Victoria is on SIMPLICITY and FUN, and to these ends check out the Victoria Class Information Center for the latest building, tuning, and sailing tips, along with other interesting and useful information about the boat.
Class RulesThe boat itself is made of ABS plastic, and is quite durable, capable of surviving virtually any mishap or collision. The kit also includes high quality aluminum spars, sails, and all necessary fittings. All you need to do is add a two-channel radio, two servos and you're ready to sail. Construction is generally a weekend project. The ease of assembly also makes the Victoria a great "club" boat, as new skippers can buy a boat and join the racing with a minimum of trouble and expense.
